Wednesday was a normal day. I woke up, got dressed and went about my daily duties. until I heard that Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in an event where he was speaking at. People were rushing to post “Pray for Charlie Kirk” and I googled him, and that was when I found out he was shot and in critical condition and hoping to get back on his feet.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. He died later that afternoon of his injuries. While that is unfortunate, I am not surprised. According to the footage, it seems there’s no way he would’ve survived that. Though I’m not quite sure if the footage was real or fake, but if the footage was real, I thought “there’s no way he would survive that.”
This assassination came weeks after another shooting at a Catholic School in Minnesota. On that very same day, it has also been said that in Evergreen High School in Colorado there is a shooter around, all while we were still processing Kirk’s assassination. This is far from the first time someone has been shot due to a mere expression of opinion.
Scary times we live in! Unfortunately, we have gotten to the point where people are condoning violence because they don’t agree with your opinion. The amount of people celebrating his passing is evident of that.
Look, I didn’t agree with everything he said. But no one deserves to go out like that. It’s just sad, as the idea of people are killing people for expression of opinion just because they’re different from ours, it goes to show the reality of the division of our nation.
At the end of the day, he was a human being. He was survived by his wife and two kids, who were in attendance at the event. Praying (if you do pray) for his soul, and an end to violence in the US and in the world. Also for his family, and those affected by his assassination. For peace, and an end to all political violence.
The suspect is just identified today.
